Sports & Extra Curriculars

The Ricardo Flores Magón Academy Athletics Program empowers students to achieve excellence through sports while fostering teamwork, discipline, and leadership. Our program offers diverse opportunities for athletes to develop their skills, compete with integrity, and represent our school with pride. Beyond physical fitness, RFMA Athletics emphasizes character development, resilience, and a commitment to personal and team success. Whether on the court, field, or track, our athletes strive to embody the spirit of sportsmanship and dedication that defines the RFMA community.

 Go Eagles!

At RFMA, we focus our Athletics programs around molding and guiding the next generation of leaders, on or off of the court. We aspire to graduate athletes that put their teams first, lead by example, and give their absolute best even when they are not competing on the pitch. The entire Athletics Department, from our AD and Coaches down to our student-volunteers that run our concession stand, take pride in doing things the right way, every time, and holding our head high regardless of outcome because we ALL know that we gave it everything that we had.

Aurora-Denver Sports League (ADSL)
RFMA currently competes in the Aurora-Denver Sports League (ADSL), which features other small K-8 Charter Schools in the Denver/Aurora area. This allows our teams to compete against similar competition, with similar resources, and provides the opportunity for our competitions to not be solely driven by winning, but to allow for all participants to showcase their abilities while working as a unit to achieve a common goal. Las Águilas have had some success in the recent past with our Men's Soccer team making it to the final match on an undefeated season and our Lady's Volleyball team has consistently increased their number of wins EACH SEASON!

The sports we play and our COVID response
RFMA's Athletics Department has been spending our time during this pandemic planning for the future, while also finding ways to celebrate our current and past athletes. We will resume offering a wide variety of sports so that we can reach all Magónistas that are interested, once restrictions are lifted, including Ladies Volleyball, Basketball and Soccer, Men's Basketball and Soccer, and finally a Co-Ed Volleyball team in the Spring season! We are also currently discussing the possibility of an "Águilas Jr." program in which Elementary-aged students may attend practices, participate in drills, and be celebrated at our end of season banquets! Águilas Jr. could also serve as a developmental program to help Magónistas gain skill and confidence, so when they arrive in Middle School, they are ready to compete and earn a place on one of the varsity teams.

NEWS

We would like to officially announce that our S.O.A.R. Club has begun to take applications! The S.O.A.R. Club (Supporters of Águilas Recreation) is RFMA's Booster's Club, in which families and local businesses can make annual donations to RFMA's Athletics Department, and in return they will have their family or business advertised and thanked via a banner hanging inside of RFMA's Gym! The continued support of our athletes can not be understated and it is all made possible because of the generosity and closeness of our community.

If you have any questions about our Athletics programs or you would like to find out more about becoming a member of the S.O.A.R. Club, please reach out to Mr. Z!
